How to invite and manage users in Cyber Ranges, and how permissions and range access work.
Inviting New Users
Cyber Ranges lets you quickly invite new users and assign roles and range access so your whole team can benefit from the environments you've created. You can invite users individually or in bulk to onboard teams or prepare for larger events.
Navigate to the User Management page.
To invite users, enter their email addresses and optionally assign Global Permissions and/or range access. Then select the Send Invites button. An invitation email with instructions for logging in for the first time will be sent to each user.
User invites are valid for seven days. If you need to resend an invitation, click the user's name and select Resend Invite.
Why can't I add new users from this page?
If your only option is to choose users from a drop-down list, it means your Cyber Range is linked to the Immersive platform. If the user you want to add isn't available, they'll need to register for the platform first.
To invite new users, click Manage > Platform Settings > Invite. The page that appears depends on your region:
EU: immersivelabs.online/platform-settings/users/invite
US: us.immersivelabs.team/platform-settings/users/invite
Managing Existing Users
You can view information on existing users from the User Management page. At a glance, you can see each user's:
- Name
- Range Access
- Permissions (Creator/Manager)
- MFA Status
To edit a user, select their name. You can manage the name, permissions, and range access of users you have permission to manage.
To remove a user, select the "X" icon and confirm you want to remove them.
Your User Profile
To manage your user profile, select the Settings icon in the bottom left of the dashboard. You can edit your Cyber Ranges display name, enable or disable MFA, and change your password.
Password Management
To change your current password, select Change, enter your current password, and choose a new one.
If you've forgotten your password, select "Forgot your password?" from the login page and enter the email address registered with Cyber Ranges. You'll receive an email with a temporary password, which you'll need to change when you next log in.
Password Requirements
Choose a strong password. At a minimum, your password must be eight characters long and include all of the following:
- Uppercase letter
- Lowercase letter
- Number
- Special character
Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
Cyber Ranges supports MFA. To enable it, select Enable from the Account Settings page and scan the QR code in your preferred authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Duo, or Authy). Then enter the TOTP to confirm your MFA setup. You can disable MFA at any time.
Global Permissions
Manager
The Manager permission grants full control over the Cyber Ranges account. Users with this permission can access all ranges and perform user management. They also have all of the permissions granted by Creator.
Creator
The Creator permission grants users the ability to create resources accessible to all users in the organization — including the ability to launch ranges, make templates, and create custom images.
Range Access
Viewing
Users with Viewing access to a range can see all of the resources associated with that range but can't update them. They can see all systems, applications, readmes, and documents. They can also create Admin VPN configs, which allow network access to all systems in most ranges, and they can control the power of a range, take snapshots, and revert to them.
Editing
Users with Editing access to a range can update the infrastructure and metadata of that range. This includes the ability to add, edit, or remove systems, apps, networking, snapshots, readmes, and documents, as well as the ability to modify range settings and delete the range.
Limited
Users with Limited access to a range can only see resources that have been expressly permitted. Systems, apps, readmes, and documents can all be configured to allow access by Limited users. These users can control the power of the range and revert to existing snapshots.
