You can download any scenario to Excel, edit it offline, and re-import it as a new custom scenario — useful for bulk editing or sharing content with colleagues who don't have platform access.
Downloading a scenario to Excel
You can download both published scenarios and draft scenarios. Re-importing a file always creates a new copy — it won't update or overwrite the original scenario. Before publishing the imported version, change the Scenario Title to avoid confusing it with the original.
To download a published scenario:
- Navigate to Exercise > Immersive Crisis Simulations > Scenario Catalogue.
- Select the scenario you want to download, then click Download from the scenario page.
To download a draft scenario:
- Navigate to Exercise > Immersive Crisis Simulations and click Create Scenario.
- From the Draft scenarios section, click Download for the scenario you want.
The .xlsx file downloads to your default download folder.
Editing the Excel file
Most fields will already be filled in from the export. Follow these rules carefully — errors will cause the import to fail.
- Bolded header columns and rows can't be edited. They identify which fields the data belongs to.
- Data in the Inject UUID and Parent Inject UUID columns (on the options, attachments, and attached links sheets) must match the UUID of the inject they refer to. The inject UUID is on the inject sheet.
- The key takeaways sheet is only relevant for Workforce scenarios — it's not used for Crisis Simulations.
- Performance Indicator column headers at the end of the Options sheet must match the titles on the Performance Indicators sheet.
- The role column on the inject sheet must match the job title of a role on the roles sheet.
- URLs on the Attached Links sheet must be valid URLs.
Several fields only accept specific values. Using anything outside these lists will cause the import to fail.

The two sets of option rank terminology produce identical results in the platform. An option imported as "strong" in a Format Version 0 file is identical to one imported as "great" in a Format Version 1 file.
Once you've made your edits, save the file.
Importing the scenario
- Navigate to Exercise > Immersive Crisis Simulations and click Create Scenario.
Select Import your scenario.
- In the Import scenario file window, click Choose file.
- Navigate to your saved .xlsx file and click Open. Only .xls and .xlsx files are supported.
When the import succeeds, you'll see a confirmation message.
- Click View your scenario to open the scenario editor.
The new scenario appears in your Draft Scenarios. You can make further edits in the builder or review and publish it from there. Remember to update the Scenario Title before publishing so it's distinct from the original.
