Lab Builder: Task Expansion
Building upon our previous releases to Lab Builder, this latest release introduces exciting new features to Lab Builder and to our new Lab UI, including:
- Drag & Drop Task- Drag and Drop is a dynamic, interactive task designed to challenge the user's recognition and matching abilities, making it perfect for testing knowledge in various subjects. With its two major components, "Items" and "Targets", it provides a simple, engaging activity where users need to drag the correct items to their corresponding targets.
- Question (Free-text) Task - The question task requires a text response to be manually entered by a user. There can be one or more correct answers, and this can be configured in the Answer options.
- Fuzzy Matching - Fuzzy matching is an optional feature that allows answers to contain spelling mistakes; it will automatically complete the answer if the user is very close. It is enabled by default and is there to reduce user frustration.
- Answer Feedback (Hint) - This can be used to provide a helpful hint for users when an incorrect answer is submitted, it can provide guidance to help reduce frustration and prevent users from getting stuck.
- Instructional/Informational Task- An Instructional task is a type of task in our platform designed to provide vital information, guidelines, or instructions to the users. It has similar configuration options that the briefing panel has, and can be used to explain what the user is expected to do in a following task, present story details, or provide a learning journey for users as they progress through the lab.
In response to customer demands, we have migrated our existing Workforce labs into the new Lab Experience UI which has been built alongside Lab Builder, this provides a brand new experience which is far more accessible and responsive, with full support for keyboards and screen-readers. You can expect to see more of the our own labs migrate to the new UI very soon!
By enabling customers to build and host their own labs on our platform, we address the long-standing need for customized security policy labs and tailored technical training modules. Furthermore, the integration of an accessible lab builder opens up avenues for external subject matter experts to contribute content, fostering a collaborative ecosystem.
