When accessing Dynamic Threat Range exercises with Workstation applications in Firefox or Safari browsers, you'll need to use a special clipboard tool to copy and paste text into the workstation environment.
Why is this needed?
Firefox and Safari have security restrictions that prevent direct clipboard access in remote desktop sessions. This is a browser security limitation, not an issue with the Immersive Labs platform.
Affected browsers: Mozilla Firefox and Safari.
Browsers not affected: Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge support direct copy and paste operations
How to paste text into the Workstation
When you need to paste credentials or other text into your Workstation:
1. Copy the text from the exercise.
2. Click the Clipboard icon in the workstation toolbar.
3. Press Ctrl+V or use your mouse to paste content to the remote clipboard.
4. Click Done
The text is now in the remote clipboard and can be pasted into the Workstation using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V or mouse.
How to copy text from the Workstation
To copy text from your Workstation and paste it on your local computer:
1. Highlight the text you want to copy in the workstation window.
2. Click the Clipboard icon in the workstation toolbar
The text is now in your local clipboard and can be pasted anywhere on your computer
Common questions
Where is the Clipboard icon?
The Clipboard icon is typically located in the top-left corner of the workstation toolbar. It may appear as a clipboard or document icon.
Can I use keyboard shortcuts directly?
No - Firefox and Safari require you to use the Clipboard menu as an intermediate step. Chrome and Edge users can use keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) directly.
Does this work for copying files or images?
No - this clipboard tool only works for text. Firefox and Safari do not support copying and pasting images or files in workstation sessions. Chrome and Edge do support image clipboard operations.
Why don't you support direct clipboard in Firefox/Safari?
This limitation comes from the browsers themselves, not from our platform. Firefox and Safari implement stricter security policies around clipboard access in remote desktop scenarios. We provide the Clipboard menu tool as a workaround.
