AI Lab Builder is a conversational AI assistant that helps you create and edit labs end-to-end. You describe the lab you want in plain language, and it builds it for you — including the lab details, the briefing, and the tasks — so you can get from an idea to a working lab quickly while staying in control of the final result.
How to access and interact with AI Lab Builder
You interact with AI Lab Builder conversationally. Describe what you want to build or change in plain language, and it will act on your request. You can continue the conversation at any point to adjust, expand, or refine what it has produced.
There are two ways to reach it:
Starting a new lab. Select the Create with AI button to begin building a lab from a conversation.
Inside an existing lab. Select the Sparkle icon in the top right to open the assistant and edit the lab you're working in.
What it can help with
AI Lab Builder takes you from a description to a fully formed lab. You can ask it to:
Create a complete lab end to end. Describe the lab you want, and it will generate the lab details, the briefing content, and the tasks.
Edit an existing lab. Open the assistant from within a lab to change details, rework the briefing, or adjust tasks through conversation.
Use the full range of briefing components. It has access to all the briefing components and templates — cards, callouts, alert banners, tables, requirements and prerequisites sections, and so on — so the briefings it builds are properly structured.
Reference your own files. Upload files for the assistant to draw on when building or editing a lab, so it can use your material as a source.
Research the latest information. It has a web researcher, so it can look up current information to make sure lab content is accurate and up to date.
Review your lab. Because it knows our style guide and what a good lab looks like, you can ask it to review a lab and suggest improvements — just like a helpful assistant.
Refine iteratively. Keep the conversation going to shape the lab until it's right.
Building a lab
To get started, describe the lab you're aiming for. AI Lab Builder interprets your request and assembles a lab — details, briefing, and tasks — based on what you've asked for.
Once the lab has been generated, it's presented to you for review. You decide what to keep, change, or remove before finishing.
Refining and editing
AI Lab Builder is conversational, so you're not locked into the first version it produces. After a lab has been generated, continue the conversation to tweak and refine it — adjust the focus, rework a section of the briefing, or change the tasks.
Reverting changes. When the assistant makes changes, you can undo them by selecting the Revert button. This lets you experiment freely and roll back if a change isn't what you wanted.
Uploading files for reference
You can upload files for the assistant to reference while it builds or edits a lab. This is useful when you want the lab to be based on your own material — for example, existing documentation, notes, or source content. The assistant uses the uploaded files as context for what it generates.
Licensing and access
AI Lab Builder is available to users with the appropriate permissions (Lab Creator).
Limitations
AI Lab Builder focuses on generating and editing the content inside a lab. It has some boundaries worth knowing:
It doesn't interact with practical machines. It can't set up, configure, or operate the practical machines used in a lab.
It doesn't add images or assets into the lab. It can see and interpret images and assets in files you upload — so it can take them into account — but it can't insert those images or assets into the lab itself.
It doesn't manage or publish the lab. Its role is generating and editing content; it won't publish the lab or handle other lab management actions outside the content it creates and edits.
As with any AI assistant, review what it generates before you rely on it — check the briefing content, tasks, and details for accuracy before publishing your lab.
Availability
Like other AI features on the platform, AI Lab Builder relies on the generative AI function being enabled within Platform Settings > AI. It won't be available for organizations that don't have generative AI enabled, and it can be turned off by toggling the Turn on Generative AI switch
Feedback and support
For any technical issues with the AI Lab Builder feature itself, please use the integrated feedback that appears after any AI message. You can submit feedback by selecting the thumbs up/down.
Guardrails
AI features on the platform use content moderation to keep generated content within acceptable use, while allowing the security-related topics relevant to lab content.
