What are custom collections?
Our labs are organized into Collections: these are labs grouped by subject area e.g., PowerShell or Linux.
Managers can assign lab collections to teams and individuals.
Create custom lab collections in order to target employees with specific labs that align with your organization's strategy and cybersecurity goals; custom collections allow Managers to choose which labs form the collection.
Why would I create a custom collection?
Custom collections are the best way to target specific groups of employees in your organization with content that is tailored to their role and/or your organization's cybersecurity goals.
Examples of how you might choose to use custom collections include:
- Targeting new starters with pathways to complete as part of their onboarding
- Creating collections comprising of the specific tools utilized in your organization
- Closing the skills gap identified through learning needs analyses
How to create a custom collection
1. Navigate to the +Custom Collection button. This can be found in the Upskill section in the main menu.
Alternatively, you can add a new custom collection by navigating to the Manage section of the main menu, selecting Custom Collections in the assigned activities area and navigating to the +Create New button on the top right.
2. Title your collection and write a description.
Tip: You can add a cover image for your collection. The optimal image size is: 900px * 642px
3. Select the labs which will form your custom collection.
Browse using the filters on the left hand-side and add labs by: content category, individual labs (searching by lab name) or by the MITRE ATT&CK Framework.
- Browse and assign labs by category if you're aiming to create a collection with a specific focus (e.g. a combination of categories or difficulty level).
- Browsing by lab is useful if you're after very specific labs.
- Browsing by the MITRE ATT&CK allows you to target learners with specific techniques of the framework (our labs are mapped against these). This allows you to assign labs that focus on areas that your organization could do with improving.
You can mix, match, and assign labs using any of the above methods.
Note: we use color to differentiate content in Cyber Pro, AppSec, cloud security and career paths. You can find out more here: content and licensing.
Select the add button in the 'Actions' column to add the specific labs to your custom collection.
Return to the 'Lab Selection' page to add more labs from different collections by selecting 'Lab Selection' in the breadcrumb or by selecting the 'By Category', 'By Labs', or 'By MITRE ATT&CK' tabs.
4. Select next, review the details page, and the labs selected.
5. Publish the custom collection.
Once a custom collection is published, you'll be able to assign it to individuals and teams.
