Why can't I access all labs required to complete a collection and earn the badge?
If you are not able to access all the labs in a collection, you'll not be able to earn the badge demonstrating completion of the entire collection.
This is due to your license, which might mean you don't have access to certain content.
You'll always be notified that this is the case. A blue banner alerting you of the reason you can't access all the labs will be displayed above the collection.
If you're a paying customer, we recommend reaching out to your organization's platform administrator, who may be able to allocate you the correct license.
If you're not paying for platform access, this unfortunately means that you won't be able to earn this particular badge.
Why can't I copy or paste in a lab?
There are a couple of reasons why copy/paste is not currently working. These are:
- The ability to copy & paste has been deactivated in the lab you are attempting, to avoid you copying anything harmful to your computer.
- You are using an unsupported browser. See our System Requirements guide for more information.
- Your browser settings are blocking the copy/paste function. See our Clipboard Support guide.
If you are still having issues, please contact our Customer Support Team.
Why won't the lab complete after I have finished the mini-game?
In some of our labs, you will find mini-games to complete. If you have finished the game, but the lab hasn't yet closed, check if there are any questions or unfinished tasks to complete.
If you're still having issues, the Customer Support Team.
Where can I find the lab token for a task?
If you are struggling to find the token for a task, please make sure that you have followed all the prerequisite instructions correctly and in the order specified.
All previous tasks need to be completed before a token is supplied, but if you're still struggling, please contact the Customer Support team.
Do I get a certificate for completing a lab?
We do not provide certificates upon lab completions. Cybersecurity evolves quickly, so we believe in continually developing skills to stay up-to-date.
Many of our labs are CREST-certified, enabling you to build and improve your skills ahead of the CREST certification.
We're also mapping our labs to popular frameworks to signpost where content can help you prepare for jobs, education, and certifications.
We do have badges and achievements that can be earned when completing a collection of labs and shared with your network, as well as a variety of reports that can be exported (including a CPE/CPD certificate).
You can visit the pages below to find out more:
Why did I get disconnected from the lab?
If you have been disconnected from a lab, this could mean there was an intermittent issue or temporary platform outage.
These are rare occurrences, but to get yourself back up and running, we recommend that you:
- Log out and back into the platform
- Clear your browser cookies & cache
- If you are still in the lab, exit using the corner exit button and click 'End lab', this resets the lab
If you're still having issues, then please reach out to the Customer Support Team.
Why can't I connect to a lab?
If you cannot open or run a lab, then this could be an indication that your network is filtering one of our servers.
Please see our system requirements guide for a comprehensive allow-list of domains. All of these are required to be allowed through your network in order for all of our labs to run.
We also have a labs troubleshooting guide, to solve issues relating to system or WebSocket requirements, which could be impacting your lab experience.
As always, if you are still stuck, then please contact the Customer Support Team who will be happy to help.
Why won't the lab accept my answer?
If you have double-checked all your workings and the lab still won't accept your answer, then please reach out to the Customer Support Team. Remember to include:
- All the steps you have taken
- Any troubleshooting you have done
- Any screenshots or recordings that will help with our investigation
It may be that you have found a bug in the lab, or perhaps you have found a different answer that is also correct!
We test and update our labs regularly, and we are always looking to enhance our labs by improving the signposting within them or increasing our answer pool when appropriate.
Why can't I type anything in the lab terminal?
In our practical labs, if you click outside the lab window, you won't be able to interact with the lab until you restore focus on the lab itself.
Before you can copy or paste, you need to ensure the lab is in focus by clicking into it before your next action.
Why is the password I'm typing, not appearing in the Linux terminal?
The short answer is that it is, but it's hidden!
When you’re asked to enter a password in the terminal, no characters show up as you’re typing it. This is normal and a standard security feature. Although it doesn't seem it, your keystrokes are recorded, so all you have to do is type the password and hit Enter.
How do I access external websites required to complete a lab?
If you can't access certain external websites such as, Wayback Machine, DNSdumpster, etc. This may be blocked by your organization's network.
Unfortunately, we have no control over the external websites linked within our labs. If you can't access these from your organization's internal network, try investigating whether your organization is filtering/blocking that particular site.
Alternatively, find a different tool or website. There are many different ones, we merely link good examples.
If a link is defunct or if you would like help in choosing another tool, please contact the Customer Support Team who will be happy to help.
